XO Balm is the perfect base for a nourishing DIY coffee body scrub. With the weather getting colder, the elements are taking their toll on skin. As well as moisture, exfoliating the skin is also key for healthy skin. Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells, keeping a smooth skin surface and allowing moisturising ingredients to penetrate deeper. Instead of buying separate exfoliating products, household ingredients can be used for great DIY skincare recipes.
DIY coffee body scrub recipe:
- Natural coffee grounds are biodegradable, unlike many shop bought exfoliators which contain plastic micro beads harmful to marine life. Making enough for one use at a time also streamlines your bathroom cabinet! If you have a capsule coffee machine such as Nespresso, one capsule will give you the perfect amount for a single use scrub.
- Take a scoop of XO Balm and soften in a dish (Tip: you can even microwave for a couple of seconds to loosen the consistency), then open an unused coffee capsule and mix the grounds into the balm with a spoon.
- In the shower, step out of the water and scoop the XO Balm and coffee mixture into your hand, and then gently rub in circular motions on the driest parts of your skin. Leave to absorb into the skin for a couple of minutes and then rinse off.
